Raven Kindred North (RKN) is one of the oldest traditional Asatru kindreds on the East Coast. Our members are from all over the New England area and enjoy the camaraderie of our monthly gatherings. RKN has always prided it self on teaching the tenets of Asatru through our actions.
RKN is a kindred which supports the spiritual growth of its members. Each member is focused on developing themselves as an individual in order to better support our community.
RKN has worked to increase the awareness of Asatru by; providing those interested in Asatru with basic information about our tradition of the religion, to provide a way for Asatruar to be able to worship the gods and goddesses within a community setting, and to support our members and others in the practice of Asatru if not in our specific tradition.
Through the dedication of its members RKN has been able to provide the services of a gothi or gythia (priest or priestess) for sacred rituals like marriages, funerals, professions in addition to our monthly honoring of the Gods.
Unlike some other forms of paganism, the focus of RKN is the religion of Asatru. While we do have members who practice runic and siedr magic, the main focus is devotional. Our two main forms of ritual are the Blöt (pronounced "bloat") and the Sumble. Both of which are based on actual historical resources and adapted slightly for our modern use.
RKN’s goal is to create a living religion which reflects and addresses the needs of its adherents. While it is true that we look to the past to tell us who we are now and how we got here, we try to temper the lessons learned with the knowledge that we have and will gain in the future.
