As I write this, it has been nearly ten years since I stood on that mountainside, and dedicated myself to the ways and beliefs of my ancestors. Since that day, few things have effected me as deeply as the moment I looked into the eyes of my fellow Raveners, and exchanged oaths.
Today, each time I stand shoulder to shoulder with my kinsmen and raise a horn, I can feel the eyes of my ancestors upon me – watching, proudly. I often raise a horn to “The One” – he who was the last of my fathers to hail Thor, as he stood on the shores of Aland, Sweden. I sense the sorrow he felt thinking that he would be the last, and the joy he now feels knowing that the Oberg line has come home.
